Born and based in South Central Los Angeles, Gabe Medina is a Mexican-American artist and community organizer. Informed by his familial history, much of his work addresses Mexican-American identity, cultural terraforming, and agricultural history through the lens of clay. Using family photo archives from the 1970s and earthenware, Medina's current work delves into domestic visual languages such as wrought iron fence motifs, red clay, and local plant life. Medina received his B.A. in Studio Art from California State University Dominguez Hills (2023) and has a forthcoming solo exhibition at Pottery Northwest in Seattle, Washington (2025).

Ellsworth Artist Residency Annual Exhibition
The Ellsworth Artist Residency program is dedicated to creating an accessible studio space for artists and is a dynamic opportunity for emerging artists to work and develop their visual art practice. The residency includes professional development opportunities including studio visits with curators, critics, scholars and artists as well as inclusion in a group exhibition in Art Share L.A.’s gallery. A selection committee, consisting of professionals in the field, including curators, scholars, and artists, reviews all the submitted applications.
