Los Angeles-based artist Rebecca Laws’s work in photography and video explores themes of impermanence, time, and invisible energies, often using the natural world as a framing device. Working with the image as a material - whether it is composed of pixels or grain, moving or still - is a core element of her practice. In this way, she is very much a studio-based artist - relying upon and developing processes and ways of display that fit the needs of the work.
