"My art practice is centered on stories carried by the Black body and collective historical experiences embedded in my experienced Black-Queer identity. I create abstract, yet narrative driven work that traverse non-traditional medium and modes. Described as “Photo-Sculptural Hybrids”; Photographs are paired with and juxtapose modular sculptural forms assembled and constructed from mostly repurposed denim and other utilitarian elements. Photographic Self-portrait imagery, everyday mundane images of my everyday urban landscape. My goal and practice are to explore narrative abstraction, which allows me to question the political and reframe sensuality, sexuality, race, queerness, migration, immigration within the sociopolitical landscape. My intent is to continue an art practice that plays with the idea of iconography and the complexities of identity within the historical zeitgeist."
