Angel Cruz is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist whose work serves as a powerful testament to their upbringing in the city. Their practice is a dynamic fusion of Indigenous art, graffiti, activism, Mesoamerican and Mexican culture, and urban brutalism. Through a vivid command of color, typography, and character design, Angel constructs compelling visual narratives that explore the essence of survival and identity within LA’s cultural melting pot. Rooted in a commitment to inclusivity and engagement, their art transcends cultural boundaries to tell stories that resonate universally. This unique synthesis of styles results in a body of work that is both deeply personal and widely accessible.
Ellsworth Artist Residency Annual Exhibition
The Ellsworth Artist Residency program is dedicated to creating an accessible studio space for artists and is a dynamic opportunity for emerging artists to work and develop their visual art practice. The residency includes professional development opportunities including studio visits with curators, critics, scholars and artists as well as inclusion in a group exhibition in Art Share L.A.’s gallery. A selection committee, consisting of professionals in the field, including curators, scholars, and artists, reviews all the submitted applications.
