Moti Tavassoli is a Persian American LA-based artist working in painting, sculpture, and installation with a background in architecture and pattern design.
Having grown up in Tehran and LA, Moti belongs to both and neither. Two wildly different cultures, two vast metropolises, and infinite ways to feel without roots, she creates her world of belonging and peace. Filled with natural motifs, these are visual and tactile stories of places where borders dissolve, natural laws bend, and the material world becomes fluid and symbolic.
She is an alum of the Ellsworth Artist Residency with Art Share LA. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, and her paintings live in private collections across Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Tucson.

Ellsworth Artist Residency Annual Exhibition
The Ellsworth Artist Residency program is dedicated to creating an accessible studio space for artists and is a dynamic opportunity for emerging artists to work and develop their visual art practice. The residency includes professional development opportunities including studio visits with curators, critics, scholars and artists as well as inclusion in a group exhibition in Art Share L.A.’s gallery. A selection committee, consisting of professionals in the field, including curators, scholars, and artists, reviews all the submitted applications.
